About the course
Do I need experience in translation?
No. The program is designed so a beginner can start from scratch, working through practical examples module by module. By the end, the aim is to discuss translation choices and deliver professional-grade Arabic-to-French work, with the same classroom also covering Arabic and English.
How long does the study take?
It depends on the level you are aiming for and how intensively you study. Reaching an independent level around B2 commonly takes 400 to 600 guided hours, according to the language and the languages you already know. The in-person core in Muscat is 150 hours, with materials and assignments around those hours.
What do I receive at the end?
Students who complete the pathway receive a certificate of completion. It attests to the work done in Arabic-to-French translation.
What tools are used in class?
Authentic texts, a digital language lab, corpus resources, computer-assisted language learning tools, multimedia, and speech-recognition software for pronunciation and listening. You also receive more than 100 downloadable documents on grammar, vocabulary and technique.
Where can this lead?
Graduates look toward work as translators, interpreters, language teachers, specialists in international relations, corporate linguists, localization, or consulting in multilingual settings. The certificate records completion of the institute’s program; it is not a state license.
Can I study if I cannot be in Muscat every day?
The 150 hours are in person in Muscat. Around them, deadlines are flexible and instructors also support students remotely. Housing for the stay is a furnished apartment in Qurum, and round-trip airfare is covered. See Study in Muscat and admissions.
